Funky Fingers Swatches

Today I have some random swatches of all of my Funky Fingers polishes. Like my last post on Fresh Paint Polishes, Funk Fingers are also found at 5 Below. I believe they are 3 for 5$ or 2$ each. (**Begin tangent lol: I'm all for affordable polishes. I mean seriously, I don't think you have to spend a ridiculous amount of money to get some great polish! Personally I think the most expensive polish I've bought is my one and only Debborah Lippmann. I am always on the search for sales so keep an eye out when you're shopping and also check out your local dollar stores, TJ Maxx, and Ross. They usually always have some great deals! End Rant**)

Honestly I really like these polishes! They all applied really well and they have some really fun colors and glitters.

Fresh Paint Swatches: Steampunk, Dragon Lady, & Grapevine Goddess

Today I have 3 gorgeous Fresh Paint polishes to show you guys! If you are not familiar with this brand, they are carried at the store, 5 Below. I'm not sure if all states have this store but if there is one near you I would definitely check it out! They have amazing deals on polish! I have seen Nicole by OPI, Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips, and Color Club Art Club stripers there, all for 5$ or under. The Fresh Paint polishes along with the Funky Fingers polishes are 3 for 5$ or 2$ each.

Fresh Paint Dragon Lady
Fresh Paint Dragon Lady
Dragon Lady is a very vivid teal shimmer that shifts to purple shimmer depending on how you look at it. This is absolutely gorgeous!! The teal is so bright! I tried to show the purple in the bottle since it is very hard to see on the nail. This was a little sheer but opaque in 2-3 coats.

Fresh Paint Steampunk
Fresh Paint Steampunk
Guys...I'm dying here! Steampunk is a stunning, warm plum shimmer. I love everything about this polish!! This is 2 coats.

Fresh Paint Grapevine Goddess
Grapevine Goddess is a blue tone purple with a slight magenta shimmer. This is 2 coats.

Quick Update!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am currently trying to redesign my blog. I'm not sure when I will make another nail polish post yet but it should be soon! If you see some things changing don't worry! I'm trying to experiment with different looks and layouts.

Layla Ceramic Effect CE42 Miami Green and Some Stamping

I have a really fun manicure today using Layla's Ceramic Effect CE42 (Miami Green) as a base. Then, I used Bundle Monster's stamping plate 320, OPI's Anit-Bleak, and Sinful Colors' Mesmerize. I absolutely love how this turned out!
Layla CE42 Miami Green
Miami Green is a turquoise creme. This is showing up more blue in the photos but there is some green in it. This is 2 coats and a top coat.

China Glaze Cirque Du Soleil Get Carried Away and Whirled Away Swatches

I have a quick post of Get Carried Away and Whirled Away polishes by China Glaze. These are part of their Cirque Du Soleil Collection. These were really the only ones that I wanted besides It's a Trap-eze which I can't seem to find anywhere!

China Glaze Get Carried Away

Get Carried Away is a black jelly base packed with small black and silver glitter, large red and silver hexes, and black bar glitter. I love the combo of the glitter but the polish was sooo thick and chunky which drove me crazy applying this. This is 2 coats.

China Glaze Whirled Away over China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint
Whirled Away is a matte glitter polish with medium sized matte black hexes, large matte white glitter, and matte black bar glitter. I looove this especially over Re-Fresh Mint! The only thing was that the white glitter was hard to get out of the bottle at times. This is one coat.

Mariah Carey Collection by OPI Anti-Bleak and A Butterfly Moment

I have two polishes from Mariah Carey's Collection by OPI, Anti-Bleak and A Butterfly Moment. I recently swatched the Liquid Sand Polishes which you can see here http://gargoylepolish.blogspot.com/2012/12/mariah-carey-opi-liquid-sand-minis.html

OPI Anti-Bleak
Anti-Bleak is a red based purple/plum creme. This was really the only one that stood out to me in the collection of the normal polishes but it isn't very unique. The application was great. 2 coats.

OPI A Butterfly Moment
A Butterfly Moment is a pinky nude with golden shimmer. This one is very delicate and pretty but a little streaky. 2 coats.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Gray-t Escape Swatches and Dupe

Today I have Gray-t Escape by Sally Hansen to show you guys with a pretty dead on dupe for it too!

Sally Hansen Gray-t Escape
Gray-t Escape is a nude creme with a hint of pink. This is 2 coats.

Here, I have swatched Gray-t Escape next to OPI's My Very First Knockwurst from the Germany collection. There is a slight difference in that My Very First Knockwurst looks a tiny bit more pink but overall I would say that these are pretty exact. Although the prices are very similar, Gray-t Escape is probably a lot easier to find. I found it at Walgreens.

My Picks From Sinful Colors Haute Rebel Collection

Today I have 3 polishes from the Sinful Colors Haute Rebel collection: Beau Khaki, Mauve, and Rain Storm. I believe these are brand new releases besides Rain Storm if I can remember correctly. There were a few other polishes in the collection but these in particular caught my eye!

Sinful Colors Beau Khaki
Beau Khaki is a dusty green creme. This reminds me a of military green. Application was great. 2 Coats. Maybe a dupe for Essie's Sew Psyched? hmmm

Sinful Colors Mauve
Mauve is a very light dusty lavender creme. This one is so delicate looking. I love it! 2 Coats.

Sinful Colors Rain Storm
Rain Storm is a dusty blue creme. Very smooth and great application. This is 2 coats.

Mariah Carey OPI Liquid Sand Mini's Swatches

I have a really exciting post to show you guys today! I found the Mariah Carey OPI collection in Ulta and of course I had to pick up something from it. In this collection, OPI has released a new polish finish called Liquid Sand. According to OPI liquid sand, "Dries to a textured matte finish infused with reflective glints of light." The mini polish set that was released includes the 4 Liquid Sand polishes in the Mariah collection: Get Your Number, Can't Let Go, The Impossible, and Stay the Night. I have comparisons of these polishes with and without a top coat. Lots of swatches and my thoughts below!

OPI Get Your Number
OPI Get Your Number No Top Coat/Top Coat
Get Your Number is a blue jelly base filled with fine silver and holographic glitter. I tried to capture the texture as well as possible. It dried to a gritty but smooth finish (if that makes sense). Even when matte, the holographic glitter is still very sparkly. With a top coat, this polish is transformed into a beautiful, shiny glitter packed jelly. 2 coats.

OPI Can't Let G0

OPI Can't Let Go No Top Coat/ Top Coat
Can't Let Go is a purple jelly packed with silver shimmer and purple glitter. The glitter in this one doesn't stand out as much matte as it does with a top coat. This is 2 coats.

OPI The Impossible

OPI The Impossible No Top Coat/Top Coat
The Impossible is a hot pink jelly with holographic and pink glitter and supposedly star shaped glitter. There is no star glitter in this bottle...:(  I think it's because this is a mini bottle. This polish almost looks more red than pink but it is still very pretty. 2 coats.

OPI Stay The Night
OPI Stay the Night No Top Coat/ Top Coat
Stay the Night has a beautiful black base with red glitter. This was the one I was most excited about and it doesn't disappoint. Matte, the red glitter almost looks like specks in the black but still shines through. 2 coats.

My thoughts are kind of varied on these Liquid Sand polishes so I'm going to break it up into texture, color, and top coat.

Texture: I personally prefer a smooth finish but I really like the idea of having textured nails. It is definitely different and almost reminds me of the "fish egg" nail trend but, for that reason, I feel like it will just be another trend like the shatter polishes or magnetic polishes that will lose its popularity quickly. I love matte nails but I personally just do not like the feel or look of the texture. It almost feels like a very, very, very fine sand paper. I guess it just depends on the person and if you like the texture!

Color: All of these polishes are pretty awesome jelly glitters so I can't complain! I especially love Get Your Number and Stay the Night.

Top Coat: I think I prefer all of these, maybe with the exception of Stay the Night, with top coat. The top coat seems to just intensify the glitter and show the jelly finish. I only used one coat of Seche Vite for the pictures but 2 or 3 coats of a thick top coat would be best to smooth out the texture.

Layla The Butterfly Effect CE 52 Swatch

Today I have a gorgeous polish to show by Layla Cosmetics called The Butterfly Effect. This is my first Layla polish and I found this at Ulta.

Layla The Butterfly Effect
Layla The Butterfly Effect
The Butterfly Effect is a gorgeous purple polish packed with flakes that shift from red to blue to green. On the nail the flakes tend to shift more red and orange. I tried to capture some of the green and blue but the photos don't do this polish any justice. Ahhmazing!

Revlon Whimsical and Starry Pink Swatches

I have another quick post of Revlon's Whimsical and Starry Pink. Again, these were swatched a while ago when my nails were still long(ish).

Revlon Starry Pink
Starry Pink is a light pink polish packed with small and large silver glitter. What can I say besides that I loooove this! It's so cute! This is 3 coats.

Revlon Whimsical
Whimsical is a sheer blue jelly with large pink and blue glitter and small opalescent glitter. This one is really adorable as well but it is very sheer. This is 3 coats and you can still see right through it.
